Programme Information
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry concerned with the morphology, physiology, andpathology of the human tooth, and in particular the dental pulp, root and peri-radicular tissues. The study and practice of endodontics includes the biology of the normal pulp, crown, root and peri-radicular tissues and the aetiology, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries that affect these tissues.

The aim of the programme is to select well-qualified applicants who are interested in advanced education in endodontics.

Doctorate programme consists of four major components: didactic, clinical, research and teaching.

History
Introduction
Our department which has granted 53 scientific doctorates to this day, serves with 10 academic members, 1 specialist, 5 research assistants and 11 doctorate students and provides patient services as an important social service. as well as educational activities before and after graduation. Since the year 2000 our department has been organizing Turkish Endodonty Foundation?s monthly Ankara scientific meetings.

With our young and dynamic staff we are looking into the future in hope with our contributions to our country?s dentistry and we would like to thank everyone who has helped from academic staff to personnel.

History
Endodonty is a dentistry field which studies the Biology of Pulpa and periradicular tissues, its illnesses and their etiologies, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

Our department which was founded in 1968 was headed by, Prof. Dr. Aytekin Bilge, Prof. Dr. Yuksel Noras, Prof. Dr. Tamer Kinoglu, Prof. Dr. Emin Turkoz, Prof. Dr. Tayfun Alacam and Prof. Dr. Ali Cemal TINAZ (Current Chair: Prof. Dr. Özgür TOPUZ). Previously named as ?Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics? was renamed as ?Department of Endodontics? in 2011 when Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry were accepted to be as two different specialties.

With its academic staff number increasing gradually, with its developed physical capacity and technical equipment, our department successfully practices treatment, education, research, patient education, and prophylaxis.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
First Cycle Degree diploma, (2) Minimum scores of ?. out of 4.00 CGPA and ?. from ALES or equivalent
international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK.
Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and
first cycle degree grade point averages.

Graduation Requirements
Upon completing mandatory modules and approval of the doctorate thesis, student receives a doctorate degree in Endodontics.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This degree is an academically oriented degree and enables the graduate to exercise his/her profession in or a
related field of study and/or in research.
Assessment and Grading
Measurement and Evaluation
(1) Students take the final exam and/or the final project in addition to the mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies. Examination calendar is published on the website of the related academic department.
(2) The success of the students is evaluated with the methods and criteria which are stated on the course description forms that are declared at the beginning of semester.
(3) Students are obliged to succeed in must courses. They can reselect a failed elective course or select another elective instead.
