Master of Science Program was started in the academic year 2011-2012.

Goals
and objectives of this program; to educate specialist physiotherapists
at national and international level who follow the scientific and
technological developments in the field of physiotherapy and
rehabilitation, who have gained advanced and deep knowledge, skill and
attitude in their education, research and practice, who can integrate
their knowledge with clinical and scientific studies, who can interpret
the results, who can continue life-long learning, who can contribute to
educational programs related to physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Master's
degree graduates of Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation,
graduates acquire the degree of master of science.

History
The history of physiotherapy date back to the time of Hippocrates. At that time patients used to massage, manual therapy or hydrotherapy using the therapeutic properties of water in order to be treated.

The first physical therapy studies in proffessional sense started in the early 17th century in Europe. Established in 1813 in Sweden the Royal Central Institute of Gymnastics (RCIG) was first institution that performed physical therapy. Massage, manipulation and exercises were doing in this centre. Official certificate started to given by Swedish National Health and Social Welfore Committee in 1887 to the physical therapists.

In Turkey 1961 the first Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation High School opened by İhsan Doğramacı in Hacettepe University and this profession has came to Turkey.

Established in Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences in 2008 the physiotherapy school received its first students in 2009. The School has practice and research units and work with some of department of Gazi University Hospital.

Before physical therapy techniques consisting of massage, traction and exercise have improved day by day and this situation is gained authorization to physiotherapists for work in hospitals, medicine centers, special education and rehabilitation centers, sports clinics, sports teams and many other areas.
Qualification Awarded
Second Cycle (Master's) Degree with Thesis in physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens;
First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of 70 in the Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and first cycle degree grade point averages.

For International Students:
First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to third cycle programmes.
Graduation Requirements
A student enrolled in the program in order to graduate from the program are required to provide conditions specified in the Gazi University Graduate Education and Examination Regulation published in the Official Gazette No. 30798 in June 11, 2019.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This degree is an academically oriented degree and enables the graduate to exercise his/her profession in or a related field of study and/or in research.
Assessment and Grading
(1) Students take the final exam and/or the final project in addition to the mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies. Examination calendar is published on the website of the related academic department.
(2) The success of the students is evaluated with the methods and criteria which are stated on the course description forms that are declared at the beginning of semester.
(3) Students are obliged to succeed in must courses. They can reselect a failed elective course or select another elective instead.
(4) Mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies and final exam and/or the final project are evaluated over 100 raw points. Letter success grades over 100 raw points are given for seminars, thesis studies, term project courses and proficiency exams. To succeed in courses, the minimum letter success grades must be CC for master?s degree and CB for doctorate and integrated (post bachelor) doctorate.
(5) A student whose raw point is under 25 fails the course by receiving an (FF) grade directly. The success grade of a student whose raw point is 25 or above is evaluated with the grades of which coefficients and definitions are stated below considering the general status of the class, average points and statistical range. After this evaluation, it is possible for the letter success grade equivalents of raw points that are 25 and above to be (FF).

b) The letter grades other than the ones in the clause ?a? are:
1) D: Absent 2) G: Not attended 3) E: Incomplete (The E grades which are not corrected until after 3 weeks from the finalization of letter success grades are converted to FF) (7) The CumGPA is calculated via dividing the final grades of all of the courses throughout a student?s study period by the total number of credits. The obtained CumGPA is shown with two decimals after the point. (8) While calculating both the GPAs of semesters/years and the CumGPA, the letters grades from AA to FF are based on. G and D grades are processed as FF. (9) All grades are included in the transcripts of students. (10) For graduation, the CumGPA must be 2,50/4,00 minimum for master?s degree with or without thesis; 3,00/4,00 minimum for doctorate or integrated (post bachelor) doctorate programmes. Despite completing all the credits, students who cannot provide the graduation conditions take new courses to do so. (11) Students who do not provide the attendance conditions or other course requirements cannot take the final exam of the course and are regarded as absent (D).
