About Programme

Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing Department was established in 1999. It is an institution that provides education at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The education and research activities are conducted in eight departments, namely Fundamentals of Nursing, Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, Mental Health and Diseases Nursing, Public Health Nursing and Nursing Management. There are a total of 31 teaching staff in the Nursing Department, including 11 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 assistant proffesors, 9 lecturers with doctorate degrees and 7 reseacrh assistant/lecturer. The department has practice laboratories: Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, and Fundamentals of Nursing. The department received its first undergraduate students in 1999. In 2003, student admissions for the Nursing Department graduate program started, and as of the academic year 2021-2022, graduate student admissions will be started in the Departments of Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing and Public Health Nursing as well as the Nursing Department. 



The graduate program in nursing has professional nursing awareness in both academic and working areas, sensitive to the health problems and care needs of the individual, family and society at national and international level, can access and evaluate information specific to the field of nursing, can conduct scientific research, produce knowledge, gain knowledge and To train scientific experts in order to strengthen the leader, educator and research staff who can transfer the skills to the application area and have an impact on the health system.

History
Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing was founded in 1999. It is an institution giving an education at the level of Undergraduate, Master and Doctorate. Education and research activities are made up of seven branches as Nursing Principles, Nursing of Internal Medicine, Nursing of Surgery, Nursing of Birth, Woman Health and Diseases, Nursing of Child Health and Diseases, Nursing of Mental Health and Diseases, Nursing of Public Health and Management in Nursing . There are a total of 31 teaching staff in the Nursing Department, including 11 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 assistant proffesors, 9 lecturers with doctorate degrees and 7 reseacrh assistant/lecturer.The department first accepted undergraduate students in 1999, master students in 2003 and doctorate students in 2012.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens;
First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of ?.. in the Examination for Academic Personnel
and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such
as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK, (3) (3) A minimum score of ?. in accepted foreign language proficiency exams. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES, foreign language exam and first cycle degree grade point averages.

For International Students:
First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to third cycle programmes.
Graduation Requirements
A student is required to successfully complete 24 credit (not less than 60 ECTS) of compulsory and elective courses and carry out a thesis.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This degree is an academically oriented degree and enables the graduate to exercise his/her profession in or a related field of study and/or in research.
Assessment and Grading
Measurement and Evaluation
(1) Students take the final exam and/or the final project in addition to the mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies. Examination calendar is published on the website of the related academic department.
(2) The success of the students is evaluated with the methods and criteria which are stated on the course description forms that are declared at the beginning of semester.
(3) Students are obliged to succeed in must courses. They can reselect a failed elective course or select another elective instead.
(4) Mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies and final exam and/or the final project are evaluated over 100 raw points. Letter success grades over 100 raw points are given for seminars, thesis studies, term project courses and proficiency exams. To succeed in courses, the minimum letter success grades must be CC for master?s degree and CB for doctorate and integrated (post bachelor) doctorate.
(5) A student whose raw point is under 25 fails the course by receiving an (FF) grade directly. The success grade of a student whose raw point is 25 or above is evaluated with the grades of which coefficients and definitions are stated below considering the general status of the class, average points and statistical range. After this evaluation, it is possible for the letter success grade equivalents of raw points that are 25 and above to be (FF).

b) The letter grades other than the ones in the clause ?a? are:
1) D: Absent 2) G: Not attended 3) E: Incomplete (The E grades which are not corrected until after 3 weeks from the finalization of letter success grades are converted to FF) (7) The CumGPA is calculated via dividing the final grades of all of the courses throughout a student?s study period by the total number of credits. The obtained CumGPA is shown with two decimals after the point. (8) While calculating both the GPAs of semesters/years and the CumGPA, the letters grades from AA to FF are based on. G and D grades are processed as FF. (9) All grades are included in the transcripts of students. (10) For graduation, the CumGPA must be 2,50/4,00 minimum for master?s degree with or without thesis; 3,00/4,00 minimum for doctorate or integrated (post bachelor) doctorate programmes. Despite completing all the credits, students who cannot provide the graduation conditions take new courses to do so. (11) Students who do not provide the attendance conditions or other course requirements cannot take the final exam of the course and are regarded as absent (D).
