Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health, in 1980, Assoc. Dr. It was established with the appointment of Hikmet PEKCAN as a lecturer. In 1981, Dr. M. Ali BUMIN and Dr. Berdan AKALIN was born in 1984 as Dr. Çiğdem BUMİN started to work in our department.
With a protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and our University in 1984, Gölbaşı Education and Research Regional Presidency Service Area became the Education and Research Area of ??Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Thus, the 6th semester students of our Faculty of Medicine had the opportunity to practice rural medicine. Student lodgings built by our faculty in the garden of Gökçehöyük, Beynam and Ahiboz health centers in the region were put into service during this period. With our students staying in the lodgings at night, a weekday Public Health Internship was started in health centers.
prof. Dr. Hikmet PEKCAN was appointed to Gaziantep University in 1988 and left our faculty. In our department in 1989, Dr. Remzi AYGÜN Assistant Professor, in 1990 Dr. Sefer AYCAN started to work as a lecturer.
In 1997, Dr. Işıl MARAL, in 2000, Dr. Seçil ÖZKAN, in 2004, Dr. Mustafa Necmi İLHAN and Dr. Fatma Nur BARAN AKSAKAL, in 2014, Dr. Asiye UĞRAŞ DİKMEN, in 2019 Dr. Hakan TÜZÜN, in 2021, Dr. Cansu ÖZBAŞ and Dr. Volkan MEDENİ started to work in our Department as Lecturer.
As of December 2021, 6 lecturers, 1 lecturer and 26 research assistants are working in our Department.
The Department of Occupational and Occupational Diseases was established in 1993, and the Department of Environmental Health was established in 2017 in our department.
As of December 2021, 55 people received Public Health Specialization and 31 people received Public Health Doctorate from our department. 229 people from our 3 programs have completed their Master's.
