About Programme
Gazi University Faculty of Pharmacy, Analytical Chemistry Department was established in 1983. Postgraduate studies are carried out in the form of master''s thesis and doctorate. Research
in the Analytical Chemistry group focuses on the development of
spectroscopic, chromatographic and electrochemical methods for the
determination of pharmaceutical compounds, biological molecules and
toxic elements or their species in biological and environmental samples.
Analytical
Chemistry laboratories are equipped with UV-VIS, luminescence, Raman,
atomic absorption and atomic fluorescence spectrometers, high
performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis,
electrochemical analyzer and basic laboratory equipment.
Researches entering the international literature are being made using these devices. The
goal of our department is to educate scientists who have basic
knowledge in the field of Analytical Chemistry and who can produce ideas
and develop projects and implement them.

History
Gazi University Faculty of Pharmacy, Analytical Chemistry Department was established in 1983.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Doctorate Degree in Analytical Chemistry.
Admission Requirements
General admission requirements stated under Info on the Institution on this website are being applied to start this programme.
Higher Grade Transition
Those who successfully complete doctoral education can make an academic career at home or abroad higher education institutions in the same or similar fields by being appointed as a faculty member, provided that they provide the "Faculty Members Acceptance and Preferment Criteriz". They may apply to post-doctoral programs. They can work in research centers in public or private institutions.
Graduation Requirements
1) In doctorate programs; For the students who start the doctor after taking the graduate degree, the normal duration of the program is eight semesters, the maximum duration is twelve semesters regardless of whether the student has enrolled or not.

2) Doctoral program; course, proficiency exam, thesis proposal, thesis studies and thesis defense examination. The doctorate program is composed of a total of 27 credits for students admitted with a thesis graduate degree and an education period not less than 60 ECTS; a minimum of 10 ECTS credits including a thesis preparation course, a specialization course, a proficiency period, a thesis proposal and a dissertation study, at least 10 ECTS credits including a ethic in science and scientific research techniques topics. Students who have already taken a course that ethic in science and scientific research techniques in the master program will not have to take this course again. It is enough to take the course once in the graduate education. These students complete the course load by taking 9 credits of 24 credits. The seminar course and thesis work are non-credit and evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. ECTS values ??of seminar and credited courses are determined by institute board related to the recommendation of the academic board.

3) Successful completion of the credited courses required for the doctoral program is four semesters for those who are admitted with a master''''s degree with a maximum of thesis. The student who has not successfully completed the credited courses or fails to provide a 3.00 / 4.00 grade point average is interrupted.

4) The aim of the doctoral qualification examination is to test whether the student has the depth of knowledge in the main issues. Students successfully completing the course requirements of the Ph.D. program with a GPA of at least 3.00 / 4.00 are eligible to take the proficiency exam. If the grade point average is less than 3.00 / 4.00, the course / lectures will be taken by the advisor again until this condition is met.

5) Successfully completing the Proficiency Exam, orally, defend the thesis proposal that includes the purpose, methodology and study plan of the research that will be conducted within six months at the latest within thesis monitoring committee.

6) A report of at least three dissertation monitoring committees must be submitted in order for the student to be able to complete his doctoral dissertation.

7) The student writes the results in accordance with the thesis writing rules approved by the Senate and defends his thesis by speaking in front of the jury. Before the doctor is taken to defend the thesis, the thesis is presented to the institute with the opinion that the thesis is defensible.

8) At least one scientific article prepared by the student with his / her advisor; SCI, SCI-Expanded, SSCI, AHCI or University Board of Directors is accepted as a pre-requisite for the establishment of a dissertation defense jury to be published / accepted in the accepted field indexes in the field of Associate Professorship (DOI number).Ph.D. students with a prior M.A degree should;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates can continue their academic studies in all relevant sections of universities. In addition, graduates can find an opportunity work in several fields such as particularly in the pharmaceutical industry, all the industrial enterprises and research and development centers.
Assessment and Grading
(1) Students take the final exam and/or the final project in addition to the mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies. Examination calendar is published on the website of the related academic department.
(2) The success of the students is evaluated with the methods and criteria which are stated on the course description forms that are declared at the beginning of semester.
(3) Students are obliged to succeed in must courses. They can reselect a failed elective course or select another elective instead.
(4) Mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies and final exam and/or the final project are evaluated over 100 raw points. Letter success grades over 100 raw points are given for seminars, thesis studies, term project courses and proficiency exams. To succeed in courses, the minimum letter success grades must be CC for master?s degree and CB for doctorate and integrated (post bachelor) doctorate.
(5) A student whose raw point is under 25 fails the course by receiving an (FF) grade directly. The success grade of a student whose raw point is 25 or above is evaluated with the grades of which coefficients and definitions are stated below considering the general status of the class, average points and statistical range. After this evaluation, it is possible for the letter success grade equivalents of raw points that are 25 and above to be (FF).
(6) Coefficients and letter success grades are evaluated as shown below:
a)
Coefficients Letter Success Grades
4.00 AA
3.50 BA
3.00 BB
2.50 CB
2.00 CC
1.50 DC
1.00 DD
0.50 FD
0.00 FF

b) The letter grades other than the ones in the clause ?a? are:
1) D: Absent 2) G: Not attended 3) E: Incomplete (The E grades which are not corrected until after 3 weeks from the finalization of letter success grades are converted to FF) (7) The CumGPA is calculated via dividing the final grades of all of the courses throughout a student?s study period by the total number of credits. The obtained CumGPA is shown with two decimals after the point. (8) While calculating both the GPAs of semesters/years and the CumGPA, the letters grades from AA to FF are based on. G and D grades are processed as FF. (9) All grades are included in the transcripts of students. (10) For graduation, the CumGPA must be 2,50/4,00 minimum for master?s degree with or without thesis; 3,00/4,00 minimum for doctorate or integrated (post bachelor) doctorate programmes. Despite completing all the credits, students who cannot provide the graduation conditions take new courses to do so. (11) Students who do not provide the attendance conditions or other course requirements cannot take the final exam of the course and are regarded as absent (D).
