History
Gazi University is one of the early pioneers in the development process of Guidance and Psychological Counseling Services in Turkey.The course entitled as ?Guidance? was firstly included in the program of Pedagogy and Special Education at Gazi Education Institution in 1953 in the country.

As one of the first established programs offering abachelor?s degree in the field in Turkey, Guidance and Psychological Counseling department within Faculty of Education at Gazi University has been continuing to provide undergraduate education since 1982.

The duration of education is 4 years including 8 semesters and each year around 70 students graduate from the program. Concerningits long-established structure, richness of the courses, professional academic staff highly dedicated to development, the department maintains its commitment to sethigh quality programs and being a pioneer in its field.

Higher Grade Transition
The graduates holding Bachelor?s Degree are eligible to apply to Master?s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.
Graduation Requirements
Graduation Conditions to fullfill all of courses successfully avaliable in programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and to have a weighted grade point average at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are proficiency conditions required to graduation.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates from the program have the opportunity towork mainly as psychological counselors in State and Private Schools andGuidance Research Centers within the Ministry of National Education. Moreover,they can work at Rehabilitation Centers, Ministry of Justice, Ministry ofFamily, Labor and Social Services, State and Private Counseling Centers,University Counseling Centers, Family Counseling Centers, Career Counseling Centers and by proceeding in their graduate education; they can work asacademic staff at universities.
Assessment and Grading
Measurement and Evaluation
(1) For each course taken, students are given a letter success grade at the end of the semester/year.
(2) This grade is given by the instructor of the course.
(3) While evaluating the letter grade, a student?s success at classes, mid-terms/final examinations and attendance to classes are considered. The calculation of the letter grade is determined by the approval of the related academic unit and the Senate.
(4) The success grade of a student is calculated over 100 points. This grade is called raw success point.
(5) A student whose raw success point is under 25.00 is directly given an FF grade and the student fails the course. The success grade of a student whose raw success point is 25.00 and above is evaluated by using the methods determined by the board decisions of the Educational Commission of the University and the Senate; with the letter grades of which coefficients and explanations are mentioned below. After this evaluation, it is also possible that the raw success points 25.00 and above may become FF letter grades.

1) D: Did not Attend the Course
2) G: Did not Attend the Exam
3) E: Incomplete (The E grades which are not corrected until after 3 weeks from the finalization of letter success grades are converted to FF)
4) VZ: Withdrawn
(7) A student whose letter success grade is (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) or (DD) is considered as succeeded the course. However, the CumGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of the student must be at least 2,00 for graduation.
