About Programme
Training period is 4 years, the Department of Geography Education. The language of instruction is Turkish. Technological possibilities in addition to theoretical courses where all kinds of practical courses in geography class, supported by Geographic Information Systems courses. There are master''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s and doctoral programs in the department. Since 2009, the Erasmus Intensive Programs 6-10 students each year to foreign countries under the main field. Geography teacher nominated students received during the period under various courses takes active part in exhibitions and organizes these exhibitions. Discipline among the students to meet food, tea meetings, scientific and technical purposes, such as field studies carried out in various social and scientific activities. 5th grades within the scope of the seminar and project course graduation thesis, the student in the Department of courses given in terms of field work done in terms of the understanding and importance. Completed her undergraduate work as a teacher of geography graduates of public and private sectors. Department is currently two professor, a associate professors, two asst. prof., 1 dr. and 3 research assistant.

History
Gazi University was established in 1926 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, under the name of Middle Teacher Training School to train Contemporary Teachers. In 1929, it moved to the current Gazi University Rectorate building together with the Ankara Male Primary Education School and took the name "Gazi Teacher Training School and Training Institute". Between 1929-1948, the departments of Painting, Physical Education, Music, Education (Pedagogy), French, English and German were established. ?Gazi Teachers' School and Training Institute? was transformed into ?Gazi Education Institute? in 1947; In 1980, with the decision of the Ministry of National Education, it became the "Gazi Higher Teachers School" providing 4-year education. As a result of the establishment of Gazi University in 1982, he continued his education in Gazi University under the name of "Gazi Education Faculty".
Geography Education, History, Turkish Language and Literature and Philosophy departments, which provide four (4) years of education as a separate department, were transformed into a department in 1998 and the education period was increased to five (5) years and gathered under the name of the Department of Secondary Education Social Fields Education. The department in question is recognized as the department at the Institute of Educational Sciences, and the departments affiliated to the department are recognized as science branches. Since 2014, the education period of our department has been reduced to 4 years and the student quota has been reduced to 20. The name of the department to which our department is affiliated was first changed to Social Sciences and Turkish, then Turkish and Social Sciences education, and Turkish and Social Studies teaching departments were added to the same department.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement
examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the
programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school
grade point averages.

For International Students (YÖS Sınavı istemeyen programlar için):
High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency? granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education
(MoNE). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their high school grade point averages.

For International Students (YÖS Sınavı isteyen programlar için):
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency? granted by the Turkish Ministry of National
Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education
(YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to
integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
Students to graduate from this program, are obligated to have totally 240 ECTS credits ( 30 ECTS credits for each term).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This degree enables the graduate to exercise his/her profession in or a related field of the study.
Assessment and Grading
Measurement and Evaluation
(1) For each course taken, students are given a letter success grade at the end of the semester/year.
(2) This grade is given by the instructor of the course.
(3) While evaluating the letter grade, a student?s success at classes, mid-terms/final examinations and attendance to classes are considered. The calculation of the letter grade is determined by the approval of the related academic unit and the Senate.
(4) The success grade of a student is calculated over 100 points. This grade is called raw success point.
(5) A student whose raw success point is under 25.00 is directly given an FF grade and the student fails the course. The success grade of a student whose raw success point is 25.00 and above is evaluated by using the methods determined by the board decisions of the Educational Commission of the University and the Senate; with the letter grades of which coefficients and explanations are mentioned below. After this evaluation, it is also possible that the raw success points 25.00 and above may become FF letter grades.

(7) A student whose letter success grade is (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) or (DD) is considered as succeeded the course. However, the CumGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of the student must be at least 2,00 for graduation.
