About the Program
Today, elderly care services are becoming increasingly important due to the decreasing young population, the gradually shrinking families and the geographical distance between them, the increase in the need for women in education and business world, and the increase in the life expectancy of elderly people. In order to meet the demand for intermediate manpower that can meet this need, our program first admitted students in the 2009-2010 academic year. It provides 2-year Associate Degree education with 3 associate professors, 1 lecturer doctor and 1 lecturer. We have 2 classrooms and 2 laboratories. This program aims to train intermediate staff who hold the elderly and needy people to life, relieve them of future anxiety, help them to make productive use of their leisure time, make them sensitive and protective of their own body and living spaces, and aim to apply them to their lives.

History
Our school, which was established in 1985 under the Rectorate of Gazi University, started education with an associate degree program in Nursing. Medical Laboratory in 1987, Medical Documentation and Secretariat programs were opened in 1993, and education and training continued with three associate degree programs. In the 1996-1997 academic year, as a result of the transformation of the Nursing associate degree programs into undergraduate education throughout the country, our college's nursing program was stopped. G.Ü. With the liquidation of Keçiören Health Services Vocational School, which provides education and training under the Rectorate, in 1997, Environment and Radiology programs within its body were transferred to our school.
Gazi University Health Care Services Department, Elderly Care Program was opened in 2007 under the Health Care Services Department of Gazi University Health Services Vocational School, and the first student admission took place in the 2010-2011 academic year.
Gazi University Health Care Services Department has the Elderly Care Program as a single program.
3 Associate Professors and 1 lecturer work in our department. Education activities in our school continue with a total of 19 lecturers, 14 lecturers and 1 research assistant. The academic staff at our school ensure the continuity of the courses in the program.
The duration of associate degree education is 2 years, with the language of instruction in Turkish. An average of 50 associate degree students are admitted each year. In order for our students to graduate, they must take a total of 120 ECTS courses. Applied studies in the fields of study related to the courses are carried out at the end of the spring semester of the first grade as summer internship and second grade spring semester vocational practice courses. Associate degree graduates of our program receive the title of "Elderly Care Technician". Elderly care technician; As a manpower that uses the elderly care training and elderly care knowledge and techniques, to keep the elderly and needy people alive, to relieve them from future anxiety, to make productive use of their leisure time, to be sensitive and protective towards their own body and living spaces and to apply them. definable.
Students who graduate from our program can take the DGS exam and become undergraduate by moving to the departments defined in accordance with their program.

Students can graduate after successfully completing total 120 ECTS.

Clause 38. To give associate and bachelors degree diploma, students must successfully complete the courses and grade point average must be minimum 2.00. Students whose grade point average is between3.00 - 3.50 are awarded with a certificate of honor, students whose grade point average is higher than 3.51 are awarded with a certificate of high honor andthis success is remarked in their diplomas. Associate and bachelors degree diplomas given by faculty are different for all levels, but they are prepared to be collective in all institutions of Gazi University. Diploma is given only once. In the event of lost, a certificate having the student photograph and stating the lost situation is prepared for students and they can use this certificate substituted for diploma. Diplomas are signed by the rector anddirector of the high school.

Assessment and Grading
Measurement and Evaluation
(1) For each course taken, students are given a letter success grade at the end of the semester/year.
(2) This grade is given by the instructor of the course.
(3) While evaluating the letter grade, a student?s success at classes, mid-terms/final examinations and attendance to classes are considered. The calculation of the letter grade is determined by the approval of the related academic unit and the Senate.
(4) The success grade of a student is calculated over 100 points. This grade is called raw success point.
(5) A student whose raw success point is under 25.00 is directly given an FF grade and the student fails the course. The success grade of a student whose raw success point is 25.00 and above is evaluated by using the methods determined by the board decisions of the Educational Commission of the University and the Senate; with the letter grades of which coefficients and explanations are mentioned below. After this evaluation, it is also possible that the raw success points 25.00 and above may become FF letter grades.

(7) A student whose letter success grade is (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) or (DD) is considered as succeeded the course. However, the CumGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of the student must be at least 2,00 for graduation.
