About Programme

Industrial design engineering encompasses the design and production process of a new product that can be mass-produced and developed new ideas and concepts, taking into account social demands and market needs. New ideas and the implementation of these ideas are needed in order for the economy of the country to survive and strengthen. One of the most important professions that will increase the number of design activities and innovative products in enterprises in the country is Industrial Design Engineering.

The task of the industrial design engineer; It is the development of original, reliable, ergonomic, functional, environmentally friendly and manufacturable products that can facilitate people's lives. During the product design process, the industrial design engineer is responsible for the preparation of sketches of the new idea to be developed in accordance with the determined user audience, the creation of three-dimensional models in a computer-aided environment, the determination of the materials to be used, the necessary analysis and the preparation of product technical drawing outputs and making them ready for production. In this process, which starts from the formation of a new idea and continues until its production, it is among the aims of our department to acquire all the equipment and features that an industrial design engineer should have.

One of the most important outputs of Industry 4.0 is the emergence of new fields in science and technology. Industrial Design Engineering, one of these new fields that stands out with its multi-disciplinary structures, was established in 2013 within Gazi University Faculty of Technology.

Gazi University Industrial Design Engineering (Gazi-ETM), which is one of the first examples of the Industrial Design Engineering department, which has successful examples in Europe and the world, provides education at undergraduate and graduate levels. Education language is Turkish in Gazi-ETM department, whose education period at the undergraduate level is 4 years (8 semesters). Gazi-ETM students receive 1 semester workplace training, in addition to the industry summer internship, and can do double major and minor. As Gazi-ETM department, we offer opportunities for our students to perform their industrial internship and workplace training abroad. Many of our students carry out their summer internships in EU countries either through Erasmus + projects or through their own private initiatives.

History
Gazi University Technology Faculty, which is one of the most rooted educational institutions in its region with its 82 years of history, has the richest environment in our country in terms of workshops and laboratories. Until 2013, there was no training under the name of Technical Education Faculty as Mechanical Painting and Construction Department, and after 2013, it continues its education life under the name of Industrial Design Engineering under the Faculty of Technology.

Admission Requirements
Students are admitted to the Department of Industrial Design Engineering from both general high schools and Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions (MTOK). No preparatory education is given to vocational high school graduate students. According to the results of the YKS exam, students are admitted according to the order of MF score type.
Higher Grade Transition
Can apply to Industrial Design Engineering, Industrial Design and Industrial Product Design graduate programs.
Graduation Requirements
Students are expected to complete 240 credits during their four-year study period. Among these courses, they must choose and complete at least one course from each of the six technical elective groups. In addition, two non-field elective courses are used to complete this credit. In addition to 40 working days of industrial summer internship, students are required to take 1 semester of workplace training.

Assessment and Grading
Measurement and evaluation is carried out as a project, presentation, written and multiple choice exams. This situation varies according to the course content. 60% midterm exam and 40% final exam are predominantly effective in evaluation.
