About Programme
Nursing Department established in 1999; In line with the universal values, country realities and requirements, it trains nurses who protect, maintain, develop and provide nursing care in cases where they are impaired, adopt lifelong learning, and the education period is 4 years. During this period, our students take courses from basic sciences and social sciences as well as theoretical and practical courses related to the nursing profession. Practices of vocational courses are carried out in hospitals, family health centers, maternal and child health and community health centers, kindergartens, schools, workplaces and nursing homes, depending on the content of the courses. In order to be able to adapt to their professional life more easily and provide quality care after graduation, our students practice as interns in various health institutions in their senior year. Our students complete the undergraduate program with a total of 4774 hours and 240 ECTS in accordance with European Union standards. Our department, which also has Farabi, Erasmus and Mevlana Programs, gave its first graduates in the academic year of 2002-2003. So far, 110 students have graduated from the Master's program in Nursing. The first students were enrolled in the doctorate program in the 2012-2013 academic year. Education is carried out in eight departments in our department. There are a total of 31 teaching staff in the Nursing Department, including 11 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 assistant proffesors, 9 lecturers with doctorate degrees and 7 reseacrh assistant/lecturer. There are 3 education and research laboratories in the department: Principles of Nursing, Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing and Child Health and Disease Nursing.


 



ndergraduate program in nursing aims to train professional nurses who determines the needs of the individual, family and society by using the holistic approach and critical thinking process; have the ability to conduct and evaluate evidence-based care planning; maintains the responsibility of lifelong learning and development; can create change and show leadership behavior; maintains loyalty to laws and professional ethical principles while performing maintenance, education, research, management, consultancy roles; and who can affect health policies for the benefit of society.

History
Founded in 1999, the Department of Nursing trains nurses protecting, carrying out and improving the health of family and society in line with the reality and needs of the country, giving nursing care whenever it is deteriorated, adopting lifelong learning in an educational period of 4 years. In this process, the students take theoretical and practical courses as well as basic and social sciences. The practices of vocational courses are applied at hospital, family health centres, mother child health and public health centres, kindergartens, schools, businesses and elderly care homes depending on the content of the course. After the graduation, students can practice as intern students at different health departments when they are at the final class in order to adapt to their vocational career and give more qualitative care. Students complete the undergraduate program in compatible with European Union standards with 4774 hours and 186 credits and 240 ECTS. With the programs of Farabi and Erasmus, the department graduated first students as a College in the academic year of 2002-2003. The program of Master at Nursing started in the academic year of 2003-2004 and 110 students graduated up to now. First students of doctorate was accepted in the academic year of 2012-2013. Education is carried out in eigth branches of our department. Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.

For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree programmes.
Graduation Requirements
It is to complete all the courses in the program with an average of 2.5 out of 4 and 240 ECTS.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This degree enables the graduate to exercise his/her profession in the field of nursing as a nurse in accordance with the national regulations and practices.

Measurement and Evaluation
(1) For each course taken, students are given a letter success grade at the end of the semester/year.
(2) This grade is given by the instructor of the course.
(3) While evaluating the letter grade, a student?s success at classes, mid-terms/final examinations and attendance to classes are considered. The calculation of the letter grade is determined by the approval of the related academic unit and the Senate.
(4) The success grade of a student is calculated over 100 points. This grade is called raw success point.
(5) A student whose raw success point is under 25.00 is directly given an FF grade and the student fails the course. The success grade of a student whose raw success point is 25.00 and above is evaluated by using the methods determined by the board decisions of the Educational Commission of the University and the Senate; with the letter grades of which coefficients and explanations are mentioned below. After this evaluation, it is also possible that the raw success points 25.00 and above may become FF letter grades.

4) VZ: Withdrawn
(7) A student whose letter success grade is (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) or (DD) is considered as succeeded the course. However, the CumGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of the student must be at least 2,00 for graduation.
