History
The history of Gazi University Chemical Engineering Department is based on "Private Anatolian Chemical Engineering Collage" opened in 1968. In 1971, this college merged with "Private Yükseliş Collage of Engineering and Architecture" and "Private Zafer Collage of Engineering and Architecture" and joined the "Ankara State Collage of Engineering and Architecture" under the name of "Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences". "Ankara State Engineering and Architecture Collage (A.D.M.M.Y.)" separated from Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences and took the name of "Ankara State Engineering and Architecture Academy (A.D.M.M.A.)" which was established in 1973.
Our department continued its education and training activities under the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture established within Gazi University with the law enacted in 1982. In 1993, an evening education program was established within the Department of Chemical Engineering and two different programs were conducted as Normal Education and Evening Education Program. Since 1993, at least 30% of English lessons have been taught in both programs.
Engineering and Architecture Faculties were separated by a law enacted in 2010, and our department continues education and training within the Faculty of Engineering after this date. The Evening Education program was abolished with the decision of the Council of Higher Education in 2014, and a new program was replaced in 2015, in which 100% of the courses are given in English. Our program, which is given in English at a rate of 30%, has been accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MÜDEK) from 2004 to 2020.
In our department, in accordance with the Gazi University Double Major's Second Undergraduate and Minor Program Regulations, there are also double major undergraduate and minor programs. The Erasmus program was initiated in 2003 and our students benefit from the program to study at universities with bilateral agreements. Likewise, students from abroad come to our department. With the Farabi program, they can attend universities in Turkey for a certain period (1 or 2 semesters) within bilateral agreements.
The education and training staff of two different programs in our department consists of 30 faculty members, 5 lecturers and 11 research assistants who have specialized in different subjects at universities in Turkey and abroad.

Assessment and Grading
(1) Students are given a letter grade for each course at the end of the semester / year they are registered.
(2) This success letter grade is appreciated by the lecturer who teaches the course.
(3) In the assessment of the letter grade of success, the student's success in midterm exam, semester / year-end exam, mid-term studies and attendance to classes and practices are taken into consideration. The calculation of this letter grade is determined by the recommendation of the relevant academic unit board, the decision of the relevant board of the academic unit and the approval of the Senate.
(4) The student's success grade is determined over 100 full points. This score is called the raw success score.
(5) A student whose raw success score is below 25.00 fails from that course by getting a direct (FF) grade. The success grade of the student whose raw success score is 25.00 and above; The general condition of the class is evaluated with one of the letter grades whose coefficients and expansions are stated below, using one of the methods prepared with the decision of the University Education Commission and the approval of the Senate, taking into account the arithmetic averages and statistical distribution. After this evaluation, it is possible that the raw achievement scores of 25.00 and above have letter grade equivalents (FF).
(6) Coefficients and success letter grades are evaluated as follows:
a)
Coefficient Notes
4.00 AA
3.50 BA
3.00 BB
2.50 CB
2.00 CC
1.50 DC
1.00 DD
0.50 FD
0.00 FF

b)
1) D: Absent,
2) G: Did not enter,
3) E: Incomplete, (The (E) grade, which is not corrected within three weeks following the finalization of the semester / year-end exam success letter grades, is converted into (FF).)
4) VZ: Withdrawal.
(7) A student who takes one of the grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) and (DD) from a course is considered successful. However, in order to graduate, the AGNO of the student must be at least 2.00.
