About Programme

Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing Department was established in 1999. It is an institution that provides education at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The education and research activities are conducted in eight departments, namely Fundamentals of Nursing, Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, Mental Health and Diseases Nursing, Public Health Nursing and Nursing Management. There are a total of 31 teaching staff in the Nursing Department, including 11 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 assistant proffesors, 9 lecturers with doctorate degrees and 7 reseacrh assistant/lecturer. The department has 3 practice laboratories: Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, and Fundamentals of Nursing. The department received its first undergraduate students in 1999. In 2003, student admissions for the Nursing Department graduate program started, and as of the academic year 2021-2022, graduate student admissions will be started in the Departments of Obstetrics-Women's Health and Diseases Nursing and Public Health Nursing as well as the Nursing Department. In 2012, students were accepted to the Nursing Department Doctorate Program. The doctorate program in Nursing trains graduates in order to produce and disseminate knowledge in academic environments and work areas, to train scientists and to strengthen leadership, educator and research staff who can have an impact on the health system. It aims to train nurse educators, researchers and lecturers who will carry out nursing lessons and carry out evidence-based studies on this subject. In addition, it is aimed that students who start their doctoral programs on nursing will carry out original research in their field and contribute to knowledge generation during their doctoral education.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
Second Cycle (Master's) Degree diploma with thesis, (2) A minimum ALES score of ... or equivalent international
examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. (3) A minimum
score of.... in accepted foreign language proficiency exams. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on
their composite scores consisting of second cycle degree grade point averages, ALES and foreign language exam.

For International Students:
Second Cycle Degree diploma with thesis obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to
the programmes based on their second cycle degree grade point averages.

Graduation Requirements
It is required to successfully complete at least 27 credits from compulsory and elective courses (provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS) and the graduation thesis.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates can be employed as lecturers in higher education institutions and as senior manager nurses in health institutions and organizations.
Assessment and Grading
Quantification and consideration
(1) Students are taken to the final exam and / or end-of-term project work in addition to their mid-term exam and / or semester work. The exam schedule is announced on the web page by the related department of science / science.
(2) The success of the student is evaluated with the evaluation method and success criteria specified in the course description form announced at the beginning of the relevant course.
(3) The student is obliged to pass the compulsory courses. He may retake an elective course he failed, and choose another course instead.
(4) Midterm exams and / or semester studies, final exam and / or end-of-term project work are evaluated over 100 raw points. Success letter grade over 100 raw points is appreciated for seminar, thesis study, term project courses and proficiency exam. In order for the student to be successful in the relevant course, the letter grade in the master's degree must be at least CC; In doctoral and postgraduate doctoral programs, the letter grade must be at least CB.
(5) A student with a raw success score below 25.00 is considered unsuccessful in that course by getting a direct (FF) grade. The success grade of the student whose raw success score is 25.00 and above; The general condition of the class is evaluated with one of the letter grades whose coefficients and expansions are given below, taking into account the arithmetic averages and statistical distribution. After this evaluation, it is possible that the raw achievement scores of 25.00 and above have letter grade equivalents (FF).

(7) AGNO is calculated by dividing the sum of the weighted points calculated on the basis of the final grades of all courses during the student's education by the total credits of the courses taken. The AGNO obtained is shown as two digits after the comma.
(8) The grades given from (AA) to (FF) are taken as basis in the calculation of both the weighted semester and the AGNO. (G) and (D) grades are treated as (FF) grades.
(9) All grades are recorded on the student's grade tracking document.
(10) AGNO's for graduation; It must be at least 2.50 / 4.00 for master's programs with thesis / non-thesis, and at least 3.00 / 4.00 for doctoral programs with master's / undergraduate degrees. Students who have completed their total credits but could not meet the graduation requirement can take new courses / courses and fulfill this requirement.
(11) Students who fail to obtain the right to enter the final exam because they do not fulfill the attendance requirements or the requirements for course practices are considered absent (D).
