About Programme

Mission

The Department of Psychological Services has determined as its mission to school Psychological Counsellors who are open to the cultural, economical and technological changes which the country needs, productive, who have adopted the ethical principles and who are engaged in high quality scientific research and development activities. Within this framework, our department strives to;

1. School Psychological Counsellors (Guidance Counsellors) with proficiency in psychological counselling in schools, family counselling, career counselling and industrial counselling which are needed by state foundations and institutions especially the Ministry of National Education,

2. School academic staff needed by the higher education,

3. School psychological counsellors needed by the private sector as well as state foundations and institutions who support individual and institutional developments,

4. Support the vocational proficiency of teacher candidates,

5. To give in house training as well as psychological counselling needed by our university’s students, academic staff and administrative personnel,

6. Organise conferences, seminars and panels under the social awareness umbrella and support foundations and institutions who wish to organise these activities,

7. Provide counselling services and carry out education activities and research projects in cooperation with academic members of different principles and state foundations and institutions,

8. Support the transformation of our students into individuals who are sensitive towards social problems, who can take personal and social responsibilities and who can contribute to society,

9. Provide our students with knowledge, abilities and experiences which can improve their university lives and lives in general and make this a part of their lives.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish students for admission requirements are:
1) Being a graduate in the field of Psychological Counseling and Guidance,
2) Having at least 80 points in Turkish-Maths tests in the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam Result (ALES),
3) Having at least 50 points in a foreign language score,
4) Having at least 3.00/4.00 graduation score.

For foreign students for admission requirements are:
1) Being a graduate in the field of Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Psychology or Pedagogy,
2) Having at least 55 points in Turkish-Maths tests in the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam Result (ALES),
3) Having at least 50 points in a foreign language score and having at least C1 level Turkish Language Certificate,
4) Having at least 2.50/4.00 graduation score,
5) For foreign students with a degree in Pedagogy or Psychology, scientific preparation is required.
Higher Grade Transition
1) Having a Master's degree in the Guidance and Psychological Counseling program.
2) Having at least 80 points in Turkish-Maths tests in the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam Result (ALES)
3) Having at least two academic reference letters.
4) Having at least 70 points in a foreign language score.
5) Having at least 3.00/4.00 graduation score (GPA).
Graduation Requirements
AGNO for graduation; At least 2.50/4.00 in master's programs with thesis/non-thesis, and at least 3.00/4.00 in master's/bachelor's degree and doctorate programs. Students who have not met the graduation requirement despite completing their total credits meet this requirement by taking new courses/courses.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
While some of the graduates work at school settings or pursue doctoral degrees in order to work at universities as faculty members others work at a variety of settings including private counseling centers, army and police headquarters, courts of family and children and other health or industrial institutions.
Assessment and Grading
(1) Students take the final exam and/or the final project in addition to the mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies. Examination calendar is published on the website of the related academic department.
(2) The success of the students is evaluated with the methods and criteria which are stated on the course description forms that are declared at the beginning of semester.
(3) Students are obliged to succeed in must courses. They can reselect a failed elective course or select another elective instead.
(4) Mid-term exams and/or mid-term studies and final exam and/or the final project are evaluated over 100 raw points. Letter success grades over 100 raw points are given for seminars, thesis studies, term project courses and proficiency exams. To succeed in courses, the minimum letter success grades must be CC for master?s degree and CB for doctorate and integrated (post bachelor) doctorate.
(5) A student whose raw point is under 25 fails the course by receiving an (FF) grade directly. The success grade of a student whose raw point is 25 or above is evaluated with the grades of which coefficients and definitions are stated below considering the general status of the class, average points and statistical range. After this evaluation, it is possible for the letter success grade equivalents of raw points that are 25 and above to be (FF).
(6) Coefficients and letter success grades are evaluated as shown below:

b) The letter grades other than the ones in the clause ?a? are:
D: Absent
G: Not attended
E: Incomplete (The E grades which are not corrected until after 3 weeks from the finalization of letter success grades are converted to FF)
(7) The CumGPA is calculated via dividing the final grades of all of the courses throughout a student?s study period by the total number of credits. The obtained CumGPA is shown with two decimals after the point.
(8) While calculating both the GPAs of semesters/years and the CumGPA, the letters grades from AA to FF are based on. G and D grades are processed as FF.
(9) All grades are included in the transcripts of students.
(10) For graduation, the CumGPA must be 2,50/4,00 minimum for master?s degree with or without thesis; 3,00/4,00 minimum for doctorate or integrated (post bachelor) doctorate programmes. Despite completing all the credits, students who cannot provide the graduation conditions take new courses to do so.
(11) Students who do not provide the attendance conditions or other course requirements cannot take the final exam of the course and are regarded as absent (D).
