About Programme
History
The Department of Arabic Language Education was established in 1984. Ali Şakir Ergin, Ziyad Akkoyunlu, Azmi Yüksel (2 June 2010) and Abdulvahap Öztürk are our teachers who contributed to the establishment of our department. Our other teachers, who have taught for many years within our department, have worked for their students but are not among us now are: Muzaffer Özcan, İsmail Korkmaz, Aytekin Özgür, Emrullah İşler, Emire Asel and Nurettin Ceviz. We will always remember all our teachers with love and respect.
 
Education time
Undergraduate education period is 4 years. However, before starting the undergraduate program, our students must successfully complete the 1-year Arabic preparatory class. Students who successfully complete the Arabic preparatory class or pass the Arabic Proficiency Exam are eligible to enroll in the undergraduate program.
 
Teaching Staff

Student Quota
Approximately 70 students are admitted to the undergraduate program of our department each year.
 
Mission
The mission of our department is to improve the teaching of Arabic as a foreign language, to teach Arabic literature, art and culture on the basis of universal values, and to train distinguished educators, academicians and researchers in this field.
 
Vision
The vision of our department, which is the first Arabic teaching program in Turkey, is to develop education and training activities in line with innovations and to raise highly qualified individuals for the future of our country with this innovative understanding and to lead Arabic teacher training programs.
 
Strengths of the Department
Our department aims to teach prospective teachers how to teach Arabic to students in the light of modern methods, rather than a structure that only aims to teach Arabic. It has shoulder this mission as the only Arabic Language Teaching Department in our country for many years. In addition, he shares his experience gained over many years by training future teachers in departments such as Arabic Teaching, Arabic Language and Literature, Arabic Translation and Interpretation at other universities.

Among the prominent features of our department, teacher candidates take many field courses, vocational courses and general culture, talent courses in the 5-year curriculum, including preparation, and the scientific resources followed in the courses are up-to-date. Also;

Physical Conditions of the Department
Our department has 3 classrooms equipped with technological equipment such as computers and projectors. In addition, there is a small library in one of the classes that contains Arabic novels, textbooks, scientific works and periodicals.
 
Job Opportunities for Graduates
In addition to being Arabic teachers, our students who graduate from our department have teachers and translators in all ministries such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Transport and in units such as the Directorate of Religious Affairs, General Directorate of Foundations, General Directorate of State Archives and has the opportunity to find a job as a specialist. They can also work as academicians for various types of Arabic programs at other universities.
 
Postgraduate Education Opportunities
Master's and doctoral programs are carried out in coordination with the Institute of Educational Sciences within our department. Our students who want to continue their academic careers can continue their postgraduate education affiliated with various institutes after graduation.

History
The department was founded in 1984. At present, the staff consists of 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professor, 4 Research Assistants. It is necessary to complete preparatory class successfully or pass the exemption exam in order to start BA program.

Bachelor's Degree in ARABIC LANGUAGE TEACHING
Admission Requirements
General admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students apply to start the program.
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in postgraduate programs in their own or related fields, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.
Graduation Requirements
Successfully completing all courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and having a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are the qualification requirements for graduation.

Assessment and Grading
Measurement and Evaluation
(1) For each course taken, students are given a letter success grade at the end of the semester/year.
(2) This grade is given by the instructor of the course.
(3) While evaluating the letter grade, a student?s success at classes, mid-terms/final examinations and attendance to classes are considered. The calculation of the letter grade is determined by the approval of the related academic unit and the Senate.
(4) The success grade of a student is calculated over 100 points. This grade is called raw success point.
(5) A student whose raw success point is under 25.00 is directly given an FF grade and the student fails the course. The success grade of a student whose raw success point is 25.00 and above is evaluated by using the methods determined by the board decisions of the Educational Commission of the University and the Senate; with the letter grades of which coefficients and explanations are mentioned below. After this evaluation, it is also possible that the raw success points 25.00 and above may become FF letter grades.
(6) Coefficients and letter success grades are evaluated as shown below:

1) D: Did not Attend the Course
2) G: Did not Attend the Exam
3) E: Incomplete (The E grades which are not corrected until after 3 weeks from the finalization of letter success grades are converted to FF)
4) VZ: Withdrawn
(7) A student whose letter success grade is (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (DC) or (DD) is considered as succeeded the course. However, the CumGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of the student must be at least 2,00 for graduation.
