About Programme

Electrical and electronic engineering is a rapidly developing engineering branch. The education programs of the department are designed to train engineers who can adapt to this rapid change, follow, implement and develop new technological developments, and have leadership and creativity qualities.

Two undergraduate degrees in our department, 30% English and 100% English; a master's degree and a doctoral program are carried out. In the 30% English undergraduate program, the rate of the courses whose language of instruction is English is expected to be at least 30%, in reality this rate is over 80%.

The contents of our undergraduate programs are exactly the same, and the first three years consist of common courses. In this process, students take courses in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Programming, which are required by Electrical and Electronics Engineering, as well as infrastructure courses on Circuit Theory, Electromagnetic Theory, Electronic Circuits and Electromechanical Energy Conversion. The last year of the program is divided into packages, and students take all the courses in a course package related to the field they want to specialize in, as well as three courses from other packages. Thus, they have both in-depth knowledge in a field and a broad education in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. There are two social elective courses in the lesson plan to improve the social skills of our students who will be engineers. Finally, all students take two design courses in the last two semesters and learn to solve a problem that they will encounter in their engineering life within the framework of project management.

Students who successfully complete the four-year education program are awarded an Electrical and Electronics Engineer diploma. Theoretical courses are supported by laboratory applications. In addition, a total of 40 working days of industrial internship is required for graduation.

The graduate program provides advanced education opportunities for successful students. In the department, supported by theoretical and possible applications; Master's and doctoral researches are carried out in the fields of Electronics, Digital Electronics, Communication, Measurements, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, Antenna and Microwave, Computer, Computer Architecture, Control Systems and High Voltage Technique.

History
The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was founded in 1982 under the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Gazi University. Previously it was serving under Ankara State Engineering and Architecture Academy (ADMMA). The language of the undergraduate education was completely Turkish until 1993 at which time it became bilingual. Since then it is called 30% English program as minimum 30% of the curriculum has to be in English. The curriculum of the department has near 90% English courses. There have been four major curriculum changes of which the final one was in 2016. The current curriculum has all the Electrical and Electronic courses as well as some of the Math and Physics courses in English. Since 2015 there has been also a 100% English undergraduate program. The 30% English program has been accredited by MUDEK (a member of Washington Accord) since 2004.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma,
(2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement
examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the
programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school
grade point averages.

For International Students (YÖS Sınavı istemeyen programlar için):
High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency? granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education
(MoNE). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their high school grade point averages.

For International Students (YÖS Sınavı isteyen programlar için):
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency? granted by the Turkish Ministry of National
Education (MoNE).
(2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations
such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education
(YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
Completion of 240 credits (ECTS)
Achieving at least 2.0/4.0 CGPA.
Compeleting all the required and elective courses in the curriculum with a grade of DD or higher. Students have to complete all the courses in one of the course packages offered in the fourth year.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the program can work in all the private and public sectors related to Electrical-Electronics and Computer Engineering. Especially defense industry companies such as ASELSAN and TUSAS, companies operating in energy sector such as TEIAS and other energy distribution companies, companies operating in communication sector such as Turkish Raido and Television (TRT), and Turkish Telekom are the ones where majority of our graduates work.
Assessment and Grading
All the courses in the curriculum may be solely theoretical, theoretical plus practical and practical only.
Theoretical classes must have at least one mid-term and one final exam.
Other than these there may be quizzes, homework assignments and other applications to determine the grade. All the components that are used to determine the final grade and their contributions are presented in the course description forms and these forms can be found in the information package.
In general the final grade of a course is determined by adding 60% of the average grade taken from the in-term activities and 40% of the final exam grade. This total is then converted to a letter grade based on the class averages.
